Nepal Trekking Gear List

Your Comprehensive Nepal trekking gear list

1. High Altitude trekking gear
(reaching altitude of 4500m or above and trekking for longer than a week)

  • – Several pairs wool blend and thin co􀆩on socks. Bring extra during winter months (Dec‐Feb)
  • – Running/tennis shoes or sandals, for wearing around tea houses or camps
  • – Waterproof, thigh‐length jacket of Gore‐Tex or similar material
  • – Wool jumper / sweater / fleece. Lightweight during summer, 1 heavyweight or 2 lightweights during winter months
  • – Down jackets are great in winter
  • – Pants: lightweight long trousers, a pair of long shorts, tracksuit pants to wear around tea houses or camps. Warmer trousers during winter months. Jeans are not suitable
  • – T‐shirts/shirts: 2 or 3 short sleeved, 1 long sleeved to protect you from the sun
  • – Hat: Sun hat or cap for day wear. Wool hat or beanie covering the ears during the winter months
  • – Water proof gloves
  • – Thermal underwear as they are light and easily washable
  • – A sarong is also useful while bathing ‐ can be bought cheaply in Nepal
  • – Cotton headscarf/bandanna
  • – Basic toiletries
  • – Biodegradable soap
  • – Hygienic hand wipes
  • – Penknife, Swiss Army style
  • – Lip balm
  • – Plastic/waterproof bags to use as rubbish bag while trekking & to keep clothing dry
  • – High energy foods such as nuts and chocolate
  • – Waterproof pack cover
  • – Body wipes

Please note that list is comprehensive. You will not need everything. We always work with each individual customer post booking confirmation to review the list and shortlist the items based on their tour program, activity level, duration and circumstance.

 

2  Recommended Gear list for short trek

  • – Several pairs wool blend and thin coton socks.
  • – A pair of Running/tennis shoes or sandals, for wearing around tea houses in Everest
  • – A pair of well worn hiking boots
  • – Jacket – (Waterproof and windproof, thigh‐length jacket of Gore‐Tex or similar material) or (a Fleece jacket and 1 light down jacket with a waterproof & windproof thin jacket)
  • – Pants: lightweight long and warm trousers, a pair of long shorts, warm tracksuit pants to wear around tea houses. A water & wind proof light pant.
  • – T‐shirts/shirts: 2 or 3 short sleeved, 1 long sleeved to protect you from the sun. Make sure these are breathable layers in your body.
  • – Hat: Sun hat or cap for day wear. A beanie covering the ears.
  • – Gloves, preferably waterproof
  • – Thermal underwear as they are light and easily washable
  • – A sarong is also useful while bathing ‐ can be bought cheaply in Nepal
  • – UV sun glasses, also covering eye for wind preferably
  • – Basic toiletries – good to have a small stock
  • – Biodegradable soap – good to have a small stock
  • – Hygienic hand wipes – good to have a small stock
  • – Body wipes – good to have
  • – Lip balm
  • – Plastc/waterproof bags to use as rubbish bag while trekking & to keep clothing dry – good to have
  • – High energy foods such as nuts and chocolate – good to have some stock with you
  • – Waterproof pack cover – good to have if your rainproof jacket does not cover your daypack and body up to your waist
  • – Day pack bag for personal stuffs
  • – Water bottle, and purifiers or filter if you prefer to use
  • – Trekking pole
